Job summary

Chesapeake Utilities Corporation is seeking a GIS Specialist I to coordinate and process GIS information for utility infrastructure. The role focuses on production, editing, and translation of GIS data, and integration with asset management systems.

You will develop QA procedures, maintain metadata, and support base map updates for geospatial applications while collaborating in a fast-paced team. Remote, home-based position with career growth and benefits offered.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 1–3 years of prior work experience in GIS or related role.
• Familiar with Electric Utility infrastructure and terminology.
• Knowledge of ArcGIS Enterprise and able to edit mapping data.
• Knowledge of ArcCatalog and ESRI geodatabase formats.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Windows.
• Valid driver's license.
• Strong communication and customer relations skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
• Strong record-keeping and safety awareness.

Responsibilities

• Perform GIS data creation, conversion, translation, migration, and import from various sources.
• Edit, quality check, data manipulation and analysis of digital map data.
• Integrate other asset management programs into the GIS.
• Develop QA procedures, standards, and protocols.
• Archive digital media and related source materials.
• Maintain metadata files.
• Communicate production-related concerns to the supervisor.
• Update digital base map data for geospatial applications.
• Apply advanced GIS principles in project work.
• Follow Quality Control protocols as directed.
• Support system prep, project layout, and design activities.
• Maintain map products and related data.
• Assist in distribution system operations.
• Assist with annual DOT/PHMSA Reports.
• Assist with other duties as assigned.
