Job summary

Leidos is seeking a GIS Tech in the Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill area for a work-from-home role with 5-10% travel. The position starts through a temp agency for 6 months, with potential conversion to a direct Leidos employee.

You will support electric distribution projects, maintain GIS data, and collaborate in an Agile team environment. The role requires GIS coursework or related degree plus field experience, strong MS Office skills, and the ability to work outdoors.

Qualifications

• Requires 30 credit hours in GIS-related program at an accredited university, OR a bachelor's of science degree plus enrollment in a GIS certification program, OR high school diploma plus 2 years of applicable work experience in a GIS-related field.
• Knowledge of Client Standards preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills
• Willingness to perform both field and office work. Overnight travel may be required (10-20% travel)
• Ability to work in outdoor environments
• Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Visio, Outlook, etc.)

Responsibilities

• Use GIS/CAD software to support electric distribution projects and data maintenance for higher complexity and priority projects.
• Reference as-builts, work management logs, & other documentation to update GIS data to reflect electric distribution construction completed in the field
• Identify data inconsistencies and communicate with the appropriate resources to provide accurate data updates to client systems
• Obtain and manipulate GIS data at state and municipality level
• Ability to work in an Agile team environment where collaboration and receptiveness to feedback are essential to producing high quality work to meet Leidos & clients' standards.
