Job summary

Chesapeake Utilities Corporation is seeking a GIS Specialist II to coordinate and process GIS data for the gas distribution system. Hybrid work within service territories; responsibilities include creating, editing, and maintaining GIS layers and maps for infrastructure projects.

The role requires ArcGIS Enterprise and ArcCatalog experience, ESRI geodatabases, and strong data QA skills, with a focus on accurate record keeping and safety compliance.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 3+ years of experience in a similar GIS role.
• Knowledge of ArcGIS Enterprise and ability to edit mapping systems.
• Knowledge of ArcCatalog and ESRI geodatabase format.
• Familiar with drafting, surveying and electronic mapping tools.
• Proficient with Word/Excel; valid driver’s license.
• Strong communication, record keeping and safety awareness.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate, prepare, and process GIS data for Chesapeake Utilities.
• Edit and update digital maps, databases, and GIS layers.
• Integrate asset management programs with GIS systems.
• Develop QA procedures and maintain metadata files.
• Archive digital media and ensure data is stored properly.
• Prepare annual DOT/PHMSA reports and assist with system operations.
