Job summary

The City of New York's Department of Health and Mental Hygiene is seeking a GIS Analyst for the Bureau of Environmental Surveillance and Policy. This full-time role supports field data collection, data quality checks, and GIS analysis across multiple bureaus, reporting to the Director of GIS in Environmental Health.

Responsibilities include developing Survey123 forms and Field Maps, training field staff, and automating GIS workflows with Python/ArcPy to improve efficiency and data reliability

Qualifications

• Experience with Esri ArcGIS platform including ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Pro.
• Experience automating GIS processes with Python/ArcPy.
• Experience designing and supporting field data collection tools and workflows.
• Experience training staff on technical GIS tools and providing user support.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain Survey123 forms and Field Maps applications to support field data collection across divisions.
• Train field staff on Survey123, Field Maps and related data collection tools.
• Review incoming field data for accuracy and completeness, resolving data quality issues.
• Support GIS analysis and mapping with ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Pro across programs.
• Write Python scripts including ArcPy to automate recurring GIS processes and improve workflows.
• Maintain and troubleshoot GIS tools and data across the ArcGIS platform for end users.
