Job summary

UVA Health is seeking a fully remote Coding Specialist 3 to serve as a subject matter expert in Gastrointestinal professional fee coding. You will review complex documentation, assign accurate codes for surgeries and E/M services, and partner with providers to ensure compliance and revenue integrity.

In this role, you will utilize CPT and ICD-10-CM knowledge, identify documentation gaps, and support revenue cycle performance while working remotely across Virginia and broader markets.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of relevant coding experience.
• Certified Professional Coder (CPC) required.
• Remote work readiness and up-to-date coding knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Independently review and code complex neurosurgery procedures and E/M encounters.
• Apply CPT, ICD-10-CM, modifiers, and payer-specific requirements.
• Interpret documentation to ensure accurate, compliant codes.
• Identify gaps and risks, seeking clarification when needed.
• Support coding quality using guidelines, LCDs/NCDs, and payer policies.
• Use Epic, EncoderPro, and charge review processes to maintain accuracy.
