UVA Health is seeking an experienced neurosurgery coding specialist to work fully remotely. You will translate complex neurosurgery documentation into accurate codes for procedures and office-based services, supporting revenue integrity and compliance.

Qualified candidates bring 5+ years of neurosurgery coding, CPC certification, and strong CPT/ICD-10-CM knowledge. You will collaborate with providers and revenue cycle teams to ensure high-quality coding and optimal reimbursement.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of neurosurgery coding experience preferred.
• CPC certification is required; strong knowledge of CPT/ICD-10-CM and payer policies is essential.

Responsibilities

• Independently review and code complex neurosurgery procedures and E/M encounters.
• Apply CPT, ICD-10-CM, modifiers, NCCI edits, and payer-specific requirements.
• Interpret clinical documentation to ensure accurate, compliant code assignment.
• Identify documentation gaps and research coding guidelines to support accuracy.
• Collaborate with providers and revenue cycle teams to optimize reimbursement.
