Job summary

AES Corporation's AES Clean Energy (ACE) team is seeking a dynamic Generator Modeling Engineer to oversee generator models through the project lifecycle for ACE’s rapidly expanding renewable portfolio, modeling generators from interconnection study phases through construction and into operations. You will work with consultants and utilities to establish relationships and deliver robust models.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering is required.
• 1–5 years of experience with modeling software (PSSE, PowerWorld, and/or PSLF).
• Generator modeling experience preferred.
• Interconnection package experience.
• Understanding of MOD standards and PRC-024.
• Able to review complex analysis and develop formal documentation, technical reports, and presentations.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize projects and tasks.
• Ability to work remotely and independently for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, review, and submit generator models for new and existing renewable resources for interconnection packages, as-built submittals, ISO, and NERC requirements.
• Ensure generator model builds align with Transmission Planner and Planning Coordinator expectations.
• Ensure models meet ride-through and reactive power requirements and that parameters are reasonable.
• Gather data required for model builds from manufacturers, contractors, and external sources.
• Verify generator models with substation schematics, inverter/turbine settings, and plant controller behavior.
• Track and implement generator model upgrades per ISO and NERC requirements.
• Respond to modelling requests and concerns from Transmission Planner/Planning Coordinator.
• Oversee model validation field tests for MOD-025, MOD-026, and MOD-027 verifications.
• Guide projects for compliance with MOD standards and PRC-024 ride-through requirements.
