The ideal candidate has a JD, 10+ years in-house experience at tech startups, and a strong track record in data privacy and international law. Remote-first, South Africa-based opportunities preferred.

Qualifications

• JD or equivalent law degree from a reputable institution.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement the company’s legal strategy, policies, and procedures.
• Oversee corporate governance, including board meetings, filings, and securities-law compliance.
• Negotiate complex commercial contracts, service, partnership, and licensing agreements.
• Advise on IP strategy, protection, and enforcement.
• Ensure compliance with national and international laws, including data privacy like POPIA and GDPR.
• Manage external counsel and litigation matters.
• Provide guidance on fundraising, M&A, and strategic transactions.
• Develop risk management strategies and stay updated on tech regulatory developments.
