Job summary

Optum is seeking an Accounting Consultant, a mid-level finance professional responsible for core accounting functions including general ledger activities, financial analysis and reporting.

This role offers remote work from anywhere in the U.S., with an on-site four-day-per-week requirement for the Minneapolis area. Strong GAAP knowledge and close involvement with month-end processes are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting with solid GAAP knowledge.
• 3+ years of accounting experience including month-end close and reconciliations.
• Self-starter with strong time management and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
• Proven communication and interpersonal skills; ability to anticipate needs and provide solutions.

Responsibilities

• Lead monthly closing activities with P&L and balance sheet ownership.
• Maintain general ledger accounts and prepare journal entries per GAAP.
• Perform reconciliations, investigate discrepancies, and resolve issues.
• Oversee revenue recognition and billing processes, including complex arrangements.
• Analyze monthly results and prepare variance commentary for reports.
