Job summary

VRChat Inc. is seeking a full-stack engineer to join the Trust and Safety Tech team. You will work on scalable moderation, anti-abuse, and safety systems across the MERN stack, contributing to both frontend and backend reliability.

You’ll collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to translate vision into practical features, while prioritizing user privacy and safety. This is a remote role supporting a global user base.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in MERN stack and Redis integration.
• Experience building scalable RESTful APIs.
• Reactive frontends with React and CSS.
• Database design and optimization, state management, and third-party integrations.
• Experience with version control and CI/CD pipelines.
• Operational excellence: observability, on-call, incident response, reliability.
• Design systems with adversarial users in mind and privacy controls.
• Ability to collaborate with operations, legal, and policy teams.
• Agile, collaborative mindset and strong communication.
• Interest in online communities, VR, or VRChat.

Responsibilities

• Work within a full-stack team to develop, implement, and maintain new features for the VRChat platform and operational team.
• Focus on enhancing safety systems, building UI/UX and backend systems for support, moderation, and safety operations, with consideration for cost and user privacy.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to translate vision into functional code with tradeoffs and estimates.
• Contribute to all stages of the feature lifecycle, from concept and prototyping to deployment and iteration.
• Ensure usability, stability, reliability, and performance of moderation and safety services; participate in on-call rotations.
• Participate in code reviews to maintain code quality, architecture, performance, and reliability.
• Contribute to a culture of collaborative, iterative, product-discovery-driven delivery.
