Foundation AI, a US-based provider of AI-native documents intake automation for claims and litigation, seeks a Software Engineer. You will design, develop, and optimize full-stack software, collaborating with product managers and designers to deliver scalable, secure features.

The role emphasizes strong coding fundamentals, a proactive mindset, and adaptability. Remote independent contractor role; candidates must reside in Canada, with opportunities to work across agile teams and CI/CD pipelines.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years as a software engineer, preferably full-stack.
• Proficient in Python (Flask/FastAPI) and JavaScript (ES6+); experience with React, Angular or Vue; builds and consumes REST APIs.
• Knowledge of PostgreSQL or relational databases; hands-on with RabbitMQ.
• Git, Docker, CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions); observability tools like ELK, Datadog, Splunk, or New Relic.
• Modular, scalable system design; OOP and design patterns; distributed systems concepts.
• Testing: unit and integration tests; practice with TDD/BDD and code quality.
• Problem-solving mindset; familiarity with Celery, async task processing, Kubernetes, Airflow, frontend security, Agile/Scrum, and reading LLD/HLD docs.

Responsibilities

• Software Development: Write clean, maintainable, and scalable code using the company’s technology stack.
• Feature Implementation: Collaborate with peers and cross-functional teams to deliver features end-to-end.
• Code Quality: Participate in code reviews, write unit and integration tests, follow clean code practices.
• Collaboration: Work with designers, product managers, and QA to understand requirements and deliver solutions.
• Agile Execution: Participate in sprint planning, grooming, and retrospectives.
• CI/CD & DevOps: Contribute to deployment pipelines and maintain reliable delivery processes.
• Debugging & Troubleshooting: Investigate and resolve issues in production and staging.
• Documentation: Maintain documentation for features, services, and key technical decisions.
