Job summary

Syms Strategic Group, LLC is seeking a seasoned Full Stack Developer (MUMPS) focused on quality assurance for healthcare applications. This 100% U.S.-based remote position requires deep experience with MUMPS/InterSystems Cache, HL7, FHIR, and HIPAA EDI standards, plus strong testing and leadership capabilities.

The role supports Veterans Affairs healthcare workflows, data integrity, and system interoperability, with a preference for candidates holding Public Trust (MBI) clearance and 10+ years

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software testing, quality assurance, or system validation experience.
• Experience testing in healthcare, government, or other highly regulated environments.
• Experience testing legacy and long-lived mission-critical systems.
• Experience validating EDI healthcare transactions (e.g., 278, 275).
• Strong knowledge of HL7, FHIR, HIPAA EDI standards and healthcare interoperability.
• Experience using defect tracking and test management tools (JIRA, Azure DevOps, HP ALM, TestRail).
• Understanding SDLC and testing methodologies; ability to analyze logs and root causes.
• Clear communication and mentoring capabilities for junior testers.

Responsibilities

• Support QA testing for mission-critical healthcare applications in MUMPS/InterSystems Cache environments.
• Develop and execute test plans, test cases, scripts, and procedures; validate enhancements and releases.
• Perform functional, regression, integration, system, and UAT testing; ensure data integrity across legacy systems.
• Validate HL7, FHIR, and EDI transactions; coordinate issue resolution with stakeholders.
• Lead testing efforts and mentor junior testers; track metrics and communicate status.
