Job summary

MDU Resources is seeking a Software Developer at multiple levels to design, code, test and install programs per specifications. You’ll work on enhancements to existing systems, mentor junior staff, and support internal applications from start to finish.

The role supports a full-stack approach, emphasizes safety, and may be located in Bismarck, ND or Boise, ID with potential for remote work within the U.S. as allowed by the company.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Information Systems or a related field or equivalent experience.
• Two years of professional experience that includes relevant development tools and business analysis review in areas of system design and application development.
• Four years of Information Technology experience with proven record of increasing work responsibility, effective analysis and project management.
• Six years of Information Technology experience with proven record of increasing work responsibility, effective analysis and project management.

Responsibilities

• Works independently with clients and consultants on traditional maintenance and enhancement tasks and/or as part of a team of developers on major projects.
• Reviews, analyzes, evaluates, and documents requested modifications to existing and new business processes and system applications.
• Provides production support to address application errors encountered during processing, including on-call duties.
• Participates in software development activities and guides activities of other staff; develops test plans, test data and documentation.
• Performs other tasks and special projects as assigned.
