Crisis Text Line, Inc. is seeking a mid-level full-stack software engineer to join our Conversational Application Team. This backend-leaning role focuses on building APIs, data models, and services that power crisis care on our platform.

You'll work across the stack, predominantly on the backend, while collaborating with product and design to deliver scalable, secure solutions. Remote-friendly, US-based, with a strong emphasis on reliability and accessibility.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of professional software engineering experience with backend or full-stack responsibilities.
• Experience building and maintaining production APIs.
• Experience with SQL and relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL).
• Familiarity with AWS and cloud-based environments.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and deployment workflows.
• Ability to work independently on well-defined tasks and explain decisions clearly.

Responsibilities

• Own features end-to-end: design, build, test, ship, and maintain full-stack features.
• Develop and maintain APIs, data models, and backend services.
• Address security, reliability, and observability in production systems.
• Collaborate with product, design, and engineering peers to deliver scalable solutions.
• Participate in on-call rotations to support production reliability.
