Job summary

Amentum seeks a Freight Terminal Manager to oversee all terminal operations for a US Navy program on Diego Garcia. You will lead cargo handling, inbound/outbound movements, staffing, and compliance with safety and quality standards in a high-tempo, remote environment.

The role requires at least 5 years in terminal or freight operations management, strong leadership, and the ability to obtain necessary credentials and pass medicals for deployment. Travel internationally is required.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in management of stevedore operations, freight terminal operations, logistics management, or transportation operations.
• Extensive operational experience with ACP 129, Visual Signaling Procedures; MIL STD 129F Military Standard Marking for Shipment and Storage; MILSTAMP Vol 1 & II Military Standard Transportation Procedures.
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Working knowledge of cargo handling procedures, freight documentation, and terminal operations
• Experience supervising personnel and managing operational workflows
• Strong organizational, leadership, and problem‑solving skills
• Must possess a valid passport and be able to travel internationally
• Passport must be valid for at least one year beyond hire date
• Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain requirements for duration of deployment.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all freight terminal operations in accordance with U.S. Navy, DoD, and transportation logistics standards.
• Provide leadership and supervision to terminal personnel and align staffing and resources with mission requirements.
• Oversee cargo documentation, inventory control, and equipment usage; ensure safety, security, and quality standards.
• Coordinate with air, sea, and ground transportation partners; resolve operational issues; support inspections and audits.
• Ensure terminal readiness and accountability of cargo in a remote, high-tempo environment.
