Job summary

The AI Policy Network is seeking a seasoned Fractional Controller to oversee day-to-day accounting, compliance, and reporting across three entities: a 501(c)(3), a 501(c)(4), and a connected PAC. You will manage close, filings, budgets, and cash flow, partnering with the COO to support fundraising and policy work.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in a controller or senior accounting role.
• Multi-entity nonprofit accounting experience (501(c)(3) and 501(c)(4)).
• Monthly close and audit-ready books for $2M+ annual activity.
• Experience with cloud-based accounting and spend management tools (Sage Intacct, Ramp).
• Ability to build cash flow projections and operating budgets; mentor staff or contractors.
• Strong deadline discipline and discretion with sensitive information.
• CPA or equivalent credential preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Manage monthly close and produce audit-ready financials for three entities.
• Oversee bookkeeper and ensure accurate Sage Intacct and Ramp work.
• Coordinate with external firms on tax filings, audits, and governance filings.
• Develop rolling cash flow forecasts and the annual budget with COO and leads.
• Provide board-ready financials and due diligence support to donors and foundations.
• Monitor internal controls, compliance calendars, and risk mitigation.
