Job summary

Placements24 seeks a strategic Head of Financial Planning & Analysis to lead the finance function remotely while overseeing Welkom operations in the Free State. You will drive budgeting, forecasting, and long‑term planning, translating complex data into actionable insights for executive leadership.

The role requires a Master’s degree with CA(SA)/ACCA/CFA preferred, 10–12 years in FP&A including leadership, and strong mining sector experience.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field.
• Professional qualifications CA(SA)/ACCA/CFA preferred.
• 10–12 years of FP&A and corporate finance experience, with at least 5 in leadership.
• Extensive mining or heavy industry experience.
• Strong skills in financial modeling, forecasting, budgeting, and strategic planning.
• Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management.
• Proficient in Hyperion, SAP BPC, and advanced Excel.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development of annual budget, long‑term strategic plans, and rolling forecasts for mining operations.
• Provide insightful analysis and recommendations on drivers, trends, and investments.
• Develop and maintain sophisticated financial models for decision‑making and risk assessment.
• Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting for senior management and board.
• Drive performance management with KPIs and tracking against goals.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the FP&A team and collaborate with operations and other finance functions.
• Ensure compliance with financial regulations and reporting standards in mining.
