Piper Companies is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer to lead complex federal customer deployments, shaping secure software delivery across AWS, Azure, and GCP. You will own technical execution from onboarding to incident resolution while mentoring others and collaborating with product teams.

The role emphasizes secure, compliant deployments for national security missions, with a strong emphasis on leadership, troubleshooting, and cross-team coordination. Primarily remote, travel up to 25%.

Qualifications

• 8–10+ years of experience in software engineering, DevOps, cloud engineering, or implementation/deployment engineering.
• Active Top Secret/SCI clearance required.
• Advanced hands-on Linux installation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and hardening experience.
• Strong DevSecOps experience and understanding of secure software deployment practices.
• Hands-on experience with AWS, Azure, and/or GCP.
• Experience troubleshooting complex integrations between legacy systems & modern software platforms.
• Experience owning complex, production-grade deployments with limited oversight; demonstrated technical leadership.
• Strong customer-facing communication skills.
• Experience supporting DoD, federal, defense, or national security environments preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex federal deployments, including first-of-kind onboardings and multi-enclave rollouts.
• Architect and configure cloud deployments across AWS, Azure, and/or GCP.
• Lead application onboarding for security scanning and accreditation.
• Troubleshoot Linux, infrastructure, integration, and deployment issues.
• Develop implementation standards, playbooks, and troubleshooting procedures.
• Serve as escalation point and mentor other engineers.
• Collaborate with Product/Platform Engineering to drive platform improvements.
• Engage with senior government customers and program managers on deployments.
• Travel up to 25%.
