Job summary

E Source is seeking a Forward Deployed Data Engineer IV to embed with utility clients and build end-to-end data platforms in their environments. You’ll own ingestion, transformation, governance, and serving using Databricks, Spark, Python, SQL, and AWS, delivering usable systems within weeks.

You’ll lead architecture, discovery, and handover, migrate from legacy warehouses, model data for downstream use, and create observable pipelines and operator-facing dashboards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or related field.
• Five or more years of experience in data engineering, data platform, or analytics engineering.
• Expert proficiency in Python, SQL, Databricks, and Spark.
• Experience building cloud-based data pipelines in AWS; second cloud ecosystem preferred.
• Knowledge of governance, security, privacy, and data quality practices.
• Proficiency with Git, Docker, CI/CD tools, and orchestration frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Embed with utility clients to design and build end-to-end data platforms.
• Own the technical architecture and defend it to stakeholders.
• Run technical discovery and separate solution from underlying need.
• Deliver a working system early and iterate toward production hardening.
• Lead migrations from legacy warehouses to modern platforms.
• Model data for downstream use with dimensional and lakehouse approaches.
• Integrate with asset management, SCADA, CIS, AMI, GIS, ERP via APIs and files.
• Make pipelines observable with lineage, quality checks, and runbooks.
• Build operator-facing dashboards and self-service data tools.
• Manage scope and deliverables per the statement of work.
• Contribute reusable frameworks and reference architectures.
