DraftWise is a forward-thinking contract drafting and negotiation AI provider. We are seeking a Forward Deployed AI Engineer, Backend, in New York to embed with a law firm, map their precedent into our ontology, and build the backend that makes the product work for real teams.

This early-career role centers on backend engineering and AI systems, with exposure to Palantir-style practices, real customer accounts, and ownership across technology, product, and culture.

Responsibilities

• Ontology modeling for legal knowledge.
• Backend services behind drafting, review, and search with Postgres, OpenSearch, a graph database, and AWS.
• LLM systems in production: prompts, retrieval, and evaluation scaffolding.
• Scale and performance: profiling, query tuning, and cost work.
• Deployments into elite law firms with a senior FDE beside you.
• Frontend work: Word add-in and a web app in TypeScript and React.
