Job summary

NV5, Inc. in Dallas, TX is seeking a Forensic Structural Engineer to manage forensic structural assignments, perform assessments, and prepare verbal/written reports for insurers, attorneys, homeowners, and property managers.

This role involves on-site interviews, documenting site conditions, evaluating codes and standards, and testifying in legal proceedings when required. Occasional travel within 150 miles of the office is expected.

Qualifications

• PE license or ability to obtain within 6 months
• Knowledge of building codes and standards
• Residential and/or Commercial inspection experience a plus
• Litigation experience is a plus

Responsibilities

• Communicate with clients before and after site visits and post report production
• Perform on-site interviews to collect histories and data
• Photograph site conditions to explain findings and determine causes of loss
• Review codes and standards and formulate conclusions to support clients’ needs
• Maintain good project data management and storage practices
• Supervise junior engineers in field work and report development when appropriate
• Develop reports outlining site observations, codes, findings, and conclusions
• Testify in legal proceedings when required in correlation with work product
