Job summary

Coinbase, Inc. is seeking a Staff Software Engineer within the Enterprise Applications and Architecture group to advance AI-enabled internal workflows across CX, Compliance, Legal, Global Investigations, and Trust and Risk.

You will anchor eight distributed squads, drive platform excellence, and shape the AI maturity and developer experience roadmap while ensuring secure, scalable backend services and production readiness in a regulated environment.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience delivering large-scale distributed systems.
• Experience with backend service design and API development.
• Strong cloud-native experience with AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform.
• Experience with security controls, audit logging, and data governance in regulated environments.
• Experience with agentic AI systems (MCP, LLM orchestration, RAG, HITL) and Go/Python.
• Responsible AI practice with human oversight and measurable impact.

Responsibilities

• Own the EAA-CX AI maturity and developer-experience roadmap.
• Lead platform excellence workstreams to improve reliability and observability for Tier-1 systems.
• Define build-versus-buy strategy for AI tooling across EAA-CX.
• Provide staff-level architectural coverage across squads facing complex challenges.
• Build secure, distributed backend services with full SLO ownership and traceability.
