Coinbase, Inc. is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to own the multi-year technical vision and architecture for the Identity IDV platform within Platform.

You will drive the decision engine, vendor orchestration, and verification infrastructure powering global verifications. You will consolidate IDV onto a single platform, design vendor-agnostic orchestration, and scale for new products and regions with self-serve configuration.

Qualifications

• 8+ years backend engineering with large-scale production systems.
• Proven leadership owning end-to-end design and delivery.
• Deep distributed-systems expertise for high availability.
• Expert-level Go with gRPC, AWS, and Kubernetes experience.
• Experience in identity, KYC, or payments domains.
• Uses AI responsibly with human oversight to improve workflows.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end architecture and direction for IDV platform.
• Lead platform consolidation onto a single decision-engine platform.
• Design vendor-agnostic orchestration with real-time routing and failover.
• Scale the platform for new products, regions, and modalities.
• Drive cross-team strategy and set platform patterns across pods.
