Job summary

NMI, a payments technology provider, seeks a Senior Staff Information Security Engineer to shape security across a hybrid AWS and on‑premises estate. You will lead architectural security, drive scalable controls, and partner with Engineering, Product, SRE, and Infrastructure teams while remaining hands‑on as a senior technical authority.

The role is primarily remote with occasional in-person work at our facilities.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in security engineering, infrastructure security, or cloud security.
• Deep, hands-on AWS security experience.
• Strong knowledge of IAM, network architecture, encryption, logging, and workload protection.
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD security, containerized environments.
• Proficiency in Python or Go for tooling.
• Experience with AI-assisted tooling to improve security engineering.
• Experience leading complex initiatives across multiple teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead infrastructure security architecture across AWS and colocation estate.
• Define secure reference architectures, engineering standards, and reusable control patterns.
• Provide technical leadership for major infrastructure, platform, and product initiatives.
• Lead threat modelling, security architecture reviews, and risk assessments.
• Translate security risks into practical engineering recommendations and guidance.
• Help teams adopt secure-by-design principles through patterns, tooling, and documentation.
• Improve risk reduction and resilience across AWS and on-premises environments.
