Job summary

Coinbase is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the Data Platform team to build and operate scalable data services that centralize internal and third-party data for analytics, ML, and product experiences.

You will own end-to-end data pipelines, integrate with data storage and processing ecosystems, and collaborate with analysts and security to deliver reliable data platforms across Coinbase. This role offers a remote-first environment with quarterly in-person surges.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend software engineering experience in data systems.
• Proficiency in Python, Go, or Java for scalable data services.
• Experience with SQL, Airflow, Spark, Kafka in production.
• Experience with data security, access control, or observability systems.
• Ability to design and operate data platforms with end-to-end pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Own design, development, and operation of data services across warehouses, lakes, Airflow, Spark, Kafka, and more.
• Build and maintain data integration and processing SDKs used by internal services.
• Deliver self-service apps to monitor data pipelines.
• Architect data security, observability, access controls and lineage.
• Collaborate with analysts, ML engineers, and security teams to create reusable data patterns.
