Zip Co Limited is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to design, build, and operate scalable data pipelines and trusted data models across our cloud data platform. You will own complex engineering challenges, improve data quality, and enable analytics, risk, finance, product, and ML initiatives.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience designing, building, and operating scalable data pipelines in production.
• Advanced SQL and strong Python skills with production‑quality code.
• Hands‑on experience with modern cloud data platforms (Snowflake, Databricks, Fabric, BigQuery, Redshift).
• Experience building ETL/ELT workflows using dbt and orchestration tools like Airflow or Dagster.
• Experience with streaming or event‑driven architectures (Kafka, Spark Structured Streaming).
• Strong data architecture knowledge: data warehouses, data lakes, lakehouses, data products.
• Experience with data quality, monitoring, governance, and lineage practices.
• Hands‑on with a major cloud provider (Azure preferred).
• Strong software engineering fundamentals: Git, CI/CD, IaC, production troubleshooting.
• Ability to drive architecture decisions and mentor engineers.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate scalable data pipelines across batch, streaming, and event‑driven flavours.
• Develop trusted, reusable data products and semantic models for analytics and risk domains.
• Build and optimize ETL/ELT workflows to improve efficiency, scalability, and maintainability.
• Strengthen data quality, observability, and automated validation across platforms.
• Collaborate with Analytics, Risk, Product, Data Science, and ML teams to enable AI‑ready datasets.
• Mentor engineers and contribute to reusable engineering standards across Data Engineering.
