Job summary

Zip is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to build and evolve the data platform powering analytics, risk, finance, and product decisions. You will design, build, and operate scalable data pipelines, trusted data models, and reusable data products across our cloud data platform.

You will own complex engineering challenges, improve data quality and reliability, and help ensure data is accurate, accessible, governed, and ready to support current needs and emerging AI-powered products.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience designing, building, and operating scalable data pipelines and enterprise data platforms in production environments.
• Advanced SQL and strong Python skills with production-quality code.
• Hands-on experience with cloud data platforms (Snowflake, Databricks, Fabric, BigQuery, Redshift) or equivalents.
• Strong data modeling fundamentals and reusable analytical data models.
• Experience with ETL/ELT tooling and orchestration frameworks (dbt, Airflow, Dagster) and streaming/event architectures.
• Knowledge of data quality, monitoring, governance, and observability practices.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate scalable data pipelines and data models across a modern cloud data platform.
• Develop trusted, reusable data products and dimensional models for analytics and risk.
• Build and optimize ETL/ELT workflows with modern frameworks and orchestration tools.
• Improve data quality, reliability, and observability with automated checks and monitoring.
• Collaborate with Analytics, Risk, Product, Data Science, and ML teams to enable AI-ready datasets.
• Mentor engineers and raise the engineering bar across Data Engineering.
