Affirm, Inc. is seeking an experienced backend engineer to shape the technical strategy for a scale‑out platform. You will own distributed systems built with Python or Kotlin, leveraging AWS, MySQL, Spark, and Kubernetes, while delivering consumer experiences via React.

You’ll drive search/recommendation capabilities and mentor teammates in a remote‑first, high‑impact environment. You should be comfortable navigating ambiguity, aligning cross‑functional teams, and writing clear, actionable

Formación

• 8+ years of experience designing, developing and launching backend systems at scale using Python or Kotlin.
• Extensive distributed systems experience with AWS, MySQL, Spark and Kubernetes.
• Experience developing consumer experiences using UI frameworks like React.
• 2+ years of experience in search or related recommendation engines.
• Ability to define technical and execution plans for major features or system changes.
• Comfort moving from low-level language details to large-scale architecture.
• Growth trajectory showing feedback incorporation from engineers and peers.
• Strong verbal and written communication for collaboration with a global team.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.

Responsabilidades

• Set technical strategy for the team on a year-long horizon and align with business goals.
• Collaborate across product management, design and analytics to address risks and trade-offs.
• Act as a force-multiplier by defining technical solutions and operating processes.
• Own operations and availability with monitoring, on-call rotations, playbooks and alerts.
• Establish and evangelize code review and design standards across teams.
• Develop talent by giving feedback and guiding team members.
