Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in media relations or corporate communications, ideally global/matrixed environments.
• Established relationships with journalists in science, healthcare, technology, or business.
• Experience counseling senior executives on media strategy and crisis response.
• Strong news judgment and ability to translate technical topics for a general audience.
• Experience managing external PR agencies and cross-functional stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead media strategy and support global media activities tied to Elsevier's priorities.
• Collaborate with segment teams on messaging, pitches and content for media.
• Work with agencies and partners in key markets to deliver media goals and provide counsel.
• Support global media activities such as handling inquiries, strategic planning, tracking, and measurement.
• Maintain knowledge of technology, regulation, and industry best practices through ongoing education.
• Occasionally travel (approx. 10%) for office visits or off-site meetings.
