Job summary

As Engineering Manager you combine technical understanding, delivery and people leadership to turn requirements into reliable software, while staying close to your teams' technical work.

You'll work with Product Management, Tech Leads and Architecture, ensure clear goals, manage risks, and empower teams to deliver autonomously.

Qualifications

• Experience leading development teams or in a comparable role.
• Several years of software development with solid technical understanding.
• Ability to communicate at eye level with developers, Tech Leads, and stakeholders.
• Ability to manage priorities under real constraints.
• Structured communication and adaptability to change and uncertainty.
• Experience with complex or legacy software and iterative development.
• Open to AI-assisted development tools and modern processes.
• Good German language skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop engineering teams, coaching, feedback, and performance management.
• Build and maintain healthy, high-performing teams, assisting hiring, onboarding, and retention.
• Owning reliable delivery with transparent planning and early risk communication.
• Manage the operational development process, including refinements and sprint planning.
• Work closely with Product Management to ensure clear, actionable requirements.
• Coordinate estimations, technical assessments, and dependencies with Tech Leads and the team.
• Make operational decisions, remove impediments, and address bottlenecks and changing priorities.
• Collaborate with Product Management, Architecture, and other teams, reporting progress and risks.
