Job summary

Coinbase, Inc. is seeking a backend engineer to design and build systems powering stablecoin-based payments, payouts, deposits, and withdrawals. You will join the Money Movement team within the Developer product group to enable fast, secure, and scalable transfers across the Coinbase ecosystem.

You will own key projects as a DRI, collaborate with product, design, infra and compliance, and push for reliability improvements while embracing AI responsibly to improve workflows.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of software engineering experience building and operating backend systems.
• Experience in fintech, payments, or crypto backend contexts.
• Proficiency in Go and Java; hands-on with AWS or GCP.
• Experience as DRI for end-to-end projects.
• Experience with blockchain or crypto technologies such as stablecoins or on-chain payments.
• Ability to write technical design documents and communicate trade-offs.
• Responsible use of AI with human oversight to improve workflows.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end projects as the Directly Responsible Individual, from design to production.
• Build backend systems and APIs for payments, payouts, deposits, and withdrawals.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, Infrastructure, and Compliance.
• Improve performance, scalability, and reliability of distributed systems.
• Support engineering quality through code reviews and architectural patterns.
