Job summary

Above Group, Inc. is seeking a Fire Protection Engineering Intern to support the team with designs for fire suppression, fire alarm, and life safety. The intern will contribute to ongoing projects while developing knowledge and technical skills in hydraulic calculations and CAD under supervision.

The role requires enrollment in a ABET-accredited fire protection program, with graduation anticipated in 2028. This remote/hybrid position includes travel to job sites as needed and offers an hourly

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program in fire protection engineering
• Estimated graduation date: May 2028
• Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident of the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Review applicable building and fire codes where the project is located.
• Create CAD drawings and calculations under supervision for fire suppression, fire alarm, and life safety portions of projects.
• Develop and implement design criteria and system designs from concept to construction in line with procedures and client criteria.
• Collaborate with engineers and architects to translate vision into drawings and specifications.
• Maintain communication with engineers and managers on projects, timelines, and deadlines.
• Perform design phase site visits to document existing conditions.
• Coordinate with team members the layout of fire protection and life safety systems.
• Review shop drawing submittals for compliance with designs.
