Job summary

Aoka is seeking an experienced fire protection professional to review fire and life safety plans on a part-time, as-needed basis. This remote role spans anywhere in Texas, offering flexible project-based work and the opportunity to contribute to safer buildings.

You'll work with engineers, code officials, and developers, evaluating IFC/IBC compliance, NFPA submittals, and egress requirements using VertexPlans, with emphasis on accuracy and timely turnarounds.

Qualifications

• Active ICC or TCFP Fire Plans Examiner certification is required.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in fire plan review.
• Strong technical command of the IFC, IBC, NFPA 13/14/72/101.
• Ability to work remotely on an as-needed basis from Texas.

Responsibilities

• Review architectural and fire protection plans for IFC/IBC compliance and NFPA standards.
• Evaluate sprinkler, standpipe, and fire pump submittals including hydraulic calculations.
• Review fire alarm/detection system plans and equipment layout.
• Verify egress means, occupancy load, exit capacity, and signage requirements.
• Assess fire-resistance-rated construction and opening protectives.
