Civilization Research Institute (CRI) seeks a seasoned Financial Controller (CPA) to partner with the COO and compliance leadership. This full‑time, remote role with quarterly visits to our Asheville, NC base focuses on budgeting, grant tracking, and tax compliance across CRI’s programs and donors.

The ideal candidate brings 8+ years in financial management, nonprofit tax experience, and a track record of building robust financial controls in a startup‑like environment.

Formación

• CPA with primary experience in nonprofit taxes and GAAP proficiency.
• Strong analytical and budgeting capabilities with experience in multi‑project allocations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for leadership and donors.
• Experience coordinating audits and tax filings in nonprofit and related entities.
• Ability to work independently in a fast‑moving startup environment.

Responsabilidades

• Oversee internal audits of expenses and identify cost savings opportunities.
• Track project spend with attribution across multiple projects for ROI evaluation.
• Provide tax guidance and oversee 990 filings for CRI and related entities.
• Develop org‑wide, department, and project budgets and monitor fundraising impact.
• Prepare weekly runway/run rate reports and present to leadership.
