Job summary

HTU in Blacksburg, VA seeks a customer-focused advisor to provide guidance to students, parents, and staff via in-person, phone, and email. You will manage programs like Satisfactory Academic Progress, Professional Judgments, Outreach and Education Abroad, and help determine financial aid eligibility.

Responsibilities include processing awards, reviewing appeals, and leading outreach events. The role requires flexibility to work from home with occasional evenings/weekends during peak periods.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or experience in student/customer-facing positions.
• Proficiency in delivering high-level customer service via phone, in person, email and virtual appointments.
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
• Strong listening, communication, public speaking, and presentation skills.
• Proficiency with standard office software.
• Sound judgment in difficult decisions.
• Experience working with individuals and families from diverse backgrounds.

Responsibilities

• Providing outstanding customer service to students, parents, faculty, staff, and the public via in-person, phone, and email advising.
• Managing assigned program areas such as Satisfactory Academic Progress, Professional Judgments, Outreach and Communication, and Education Abroad.
• Assisting in determining financial aid eligibility and resolving student eligibility issues.
• Processing awards and reviewing Professional Judgment appeals.
• Leading and participating in outreach events.
• Working from home with occasional evening and weekend hours, including blackout vacation days during peak processing times.
