Job summary

Mass General Brigham Incorporated is seeking a Financial Access Specialist to support post-acute admissions across Spaulding Rehabilitation facilities. Under the direction of the Patient Access Manager, you will verify insurance eligibility, coverage, and benefits, and manage prior authorizations from submission through final determination.

You will document thoroughly in Epic (Auth/Cert), collaborate with Admissions, Case Management and Financial Counseling, and monitor workqueues to ensure

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• At least 2+ years in patient access, hospital registration or revenue cycle.
• Epic experience strongly preferred; prior authorizations and insurance verifications beneficial.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, HIPAA, and reimbursement processes.
• Strong communication, attention to detail and teamwork in fast-paced environments.

Responsibilities

• Financial clearance of post-acute admissions including verification of insurance eligibility, coverage, and benefits.
• Initiates and manages prior authorizations from submission through final determination.
• Documents authorization activity in Epic (Auth/Cert) for visibility across departments.
• Identifies financial risks and escalates as needed with appropriate stakeholders.
• Monitors Epic Workqueues to support timely admissions and accurate reimbursement.
• Collaborates with Admissions, Case Management and Financial Counseling to secure appropriate payment terms.
