Job summary

UW Medicine in Seattle is offering a temporary full-time Financial Access Specialist 2 within the FACT team. This 100% remote position supports insurance clearance for inpatient and outpatient services, with regular day hours and 40-hour weeks.

Responsibilities include obtaining authorizations, verifying eligibility, discussing payment options with patients, and assisting uninsured patients with eligibility screening. High School diploma or GED and 1 year in a medical office are required.

Qualifications

  • Excellent communication with internal and external customers.
  • Experience in medical office settings preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for stated requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in on-the-job training to learn to coordinate the insurance clearance process and verify benefits.
  • Review scheduled appointments and obtain authorizations from payers.
  • Verify patient eligibility and benefits; document progress in system.
  • Refer uninsured patients for Medicaid/Charity screening; contact providers for referrals or authorization.
  • Prepare fee estimates and discuss payment options with patients.
  • Collect payments and process using EPIC cash drawer.
  • Call patients to explain limited benefits and Out-of-Pocket costs; prepare forms for signature.
