Job summary

The Nature Conservancy is seeking a Finance Specialist to provide advanced financial management and advisory support across Kentucky, Tennessee, and Virginia. Working with the Finance Manager and Director, you will help with budgeting, forecasting, month‑end close, and financial reporting for designated states and programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in finance or related field and 3 years' related experience.
• Experience with accounting and financial analysis.
• Experience using accounting/financial reporting systems.
• Proficient in spreadsheets and general ledger reports.
• Familiarity with GAAP principles and regulations.
• Experience with US federal/state regulations and donor requirements (e.g., US government grants accounting).

Responsibilities

• Supports budgeting, forecasting, financial close, reporting, and other core financial activities across assigned states or units.
• Prepares and delivers financial reports, analyses, reconciliations, and other deliverables.
• Monitors performance, identifies trends, risks, and opportunities, and communicates findings to leadership.
• Maintains accuracy and integrity of financial data, systems, and processes.
• Ensures compliance with policies, internal controls, and donor restrictions; escalates issues as needed.
• Provides guidance to staff on finance processes and reporting tools, and may deliver training.
