Job summary

The Nature Conservancy is seeking a Finance Specialist to manage accounting, budgeting and reporting for private awards. The role supports staff and partners, ensuring adherence to policies and best practices in financial management.

Remote position with preferred candidates in the western US region. You will handle journal entries, financial data maintenance, ad hoc reporting, and coordination across project teams to ensure timely deliverables and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or related field and 3 years' related experience or equivalent combination.
• Experience manipulating, analyzing, and interpreting data.
• Experience with accounting/financial issues and analysis.
• Experience using accounting and financial reporting systems, Workday preferred.
• Advanced expertise in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with GAAP and fund accounting principles, practices and regulations.
• Experience organizing time and managing various activities to meet deadlines.
• This position requires a valid driver's license and compliance with TNC’s Auto Safety Program.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate multiple projects and deliverable outcomes on a timely basis.
• Prepare and monitor budgets, financial reports and communicate financial information to project staff.
• Prepare journal entries and other financial transactions.
• Maintain BU financial data, including journal entries, adjustments, and project records.
• Research transactions, prepare ad hoc reports, and identify follow-up actions as needed.
• Financial reporting and administration of private awards.
• State and local tax filings, as needed.
• Reporting and compliance/tax for related entities (LLCs), if applicable.
• Ensuring programmatic commitments, TNC policies and procedures, financial standards and legal requirements are met and managed for compliance.
• Back-up support for accounts payable and accounts receivable.
