Job summary

Tribal EcoRestoration Alliance (TERA) seeks a Finance Controller to oversee financial operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and strategic alignment with organizational goals. You will manage financial records, supervise the finance team, and collaborate with the Deputy Director, Executive Director, and Board to safeguard TERA’s financial health.

Located near Upper Lake, CA, the role allows in-person, hybrid, or remote work with quarterly travel to Upper Lake.

Qualifications

• 2-4 year degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field or equivalent experience.
• 4+ years of government grant management experience.
• 4+ years supervising a finance team.
• 6+ years in nonprofit finance management or equivalent.
• GAAP knowledge and compliance.
• Proficiency with QuickBooks; Certified user preferred.
• High proficiency in MS Excel and Google Workspace.

Responsibilities

• Oversee accounting activities and ensure GAAP compliance.
• Manage payroll, accounts payable/receivable, and month-end close.
• Oversee financial reporting to the Executive Director, Board, and funders.
• Coordinate annual audits and regulatory reporting.
• Develop and implement financial policies and internal controls.
• Lead staff training on finance processes and systems.
