Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Analytics, Management or a related field with junior or senior standing.
• GPA of at least 2.5.
• Good communication skills, both written and verbal.

Responsibilities

• Intern uses Excel spreadsheets to develop automated processes to minimize manual efforts.
• Assist in reviewing, analyzing, and investigating discrepancies in charges; help make changes for professional and hospital charges.
• Prepare financial and statistical analysis for Advocate Health and affiliates; extract and manipulate data for trend calculations and performance measurement.
• Develop detailed cost accounting and productivity standards and use them in financial proformas and budgeting; assist in variance analysis.
• Develop and maintain procedural prices using costing methodologies, market analysis, and reimbursement information.
• Prepare, communicate and monitor operating and capital budgets.
• Support budgeting, finance, cost accounting and reporting areas.
• Apply rules and payment mechanisms of government programs and managed care companies to financial activities.
• Assist in performing charge reconciliation by reviewing patient charges.
• Assist with revenue cycle projects or areas like cash posting, insurance follow up, coding missing documentation, etc.
• Track and update reports as necessary.
• Handle administrative duties and assist support staff with meetings.
• Participate in development of programs, processes or applications.
• Investigate internal financial reporting inquiries to ensure proper recording.
