Job summary

Hitachi Energy is seeking an experienced Field Service Engineer to provide hands-on transformer support across customer sites and remote locations in the United States. You will assist with installation, commissioning, maintenance, repairs, upgrades, and end-of-life services for power transformers, ensuring reliability and safety.

You will read electrical and mechanical drawings, follow technical manuals, and document service activities.

Qualifications

• Work authorization to be employed by Hitachi Energy in the United States.
• Associate Degree with 2 years of professional experience or a High School Diploma/GED with 5 years of professional experience.
• Broad knowledge of transformer field service operations and testing.
• Familiarity with transformer installation, vacuum and oil processing, and internal components.
• Valid driver’s license with travel up to 85%.
• Ability to work outdoors for extended periods and perform physically demanding tasks.

Responsibilities

• Perform on-site and remote service activities including installation, commissioning, maintenance, repairs, upgrades, retrofits, and replacements.
• Read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings, instructions, and manuals.
• Complete internal transformer work such as bushing connections, lead clearance, tapping, crimping, and joints.
• Repair, re-gasket, assemble, and disassemble transformer equipment as directed.
• Operate vacuum oil processing and oil handling equipment and maintain required logs.
• Coordinate logistics for service jobs, including tools, resources, and spare parts.
• Contribute ideas for product and process improvements to enhance operations and customer service.
• Ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations and guidelines.
