Job Summary

Position Summary:

DEUTZ Field Service Technicians are skilled mechanics who contribute to the organization’s success by providing expertise in troubleshooting, installations, and repairs of our machinery in the field. They perform preventative maintenance and routine repairs on all DEUTZ products and Non-DEUTZ Construction Equipment within the DEUTZ Power Center. The role involves liaising with the Service Supervisor, Parts Department, Customers, Sales, and Engineering/Warranty departments. Candidates should possess strong problem-solving skills, adaptability, teamwork, and professionalism.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

1. Travel to customer locations for engine and equipment repairs.
2. Assist in resolving customer issues promptly.
3. Maintain a clean and organized facility, representing DEUTZ positively.
4. Plan repair methods and sequences.
5. Pre-order parts and materials needed for repairs.
6. Perform safe and effective repairs.
7. Complete repairs according to manufacturer standards and ensure quality appearance.
8. Return unused parts per guidelines.
9. Keep the work area safe and clean.
10. Communicate respectfully and honestly with customers.
11. Identify and implement repair solutions.
12. Complete work orders and timesheets promptly.
13. Use the service ticket system for repair approval and accuracy.
14. Manage vehicle parts inventory effectively.
15. Follow all policies and procedures, including warranty claims and invoices.
16. Maintain service trucks according to DOT requirements.
17. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Applicants should meet the following minimum requirements:

• High School diploma or GED.
• Valid driver’s license and insurability.
• Ability to maintain DOT medical card status.
• Proficiency in computer software including Serdia, Serpic, Fieldaware, Word, and Excel.
• 2-5 years of construction equipment repair experience preferred.
• Certification or training in heavy equipment and diesel engine repairs preferred.

Experience Levels

• Technician I: 1-2 years experience.
• Technician II: 2-3 years experience.
• Technician III: 4+ years experience.
• Technician IV: 5+ years experience.

Additional Skills

• Experience diagnosing and repairing NG/CNG engines, Tier 3-4 emissions preferred.
• In-depth knowledge of DEUTZ Diesel engines.
• Ability to work independently.
• Meet local/state requirements for service vehicle operation.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Own tools are required; DEUTZ will provide key tools.

Ability to interpret documents, write reports, speak effectively, perform basic math, and solve practical problems.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

The work is primarily in a shop environment with standing, walking, exposure to weather, and loud noises. Physical demands include lifting, standing, and communication tasks, with reasonable accommodations available for disabilities.
