Job summary

Life Fitness / Hammer Strength seeks a Field Service Technician to cover the Pittsburgh area, diagnosing and repairing fitness equipment, performing preventative maintenance, and building strong customer relationships. Remote-based with up to 85% travel, you will support sales and service teams while delivering top-tier on-site service.

Qualifications

• 3+ years proven experience providing technical and mechanical troubleshooting and repair services on fitness equipment or products of equivalent complexity.
• High school diploma or GED required; Associate's degree in electronics or technical field preferred.
• Ability to adapt quickly, multi-task, and thrive in a remote, deadline-driven environment as part of a distributed team.
• Proficiency diagnosing electro-mechanical, networking, and A/V issues with WiFi, power electronics, circuits, and DC/AC power systems.
• Ability to build strong relationships with customers and internal teams.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, results-oriented, and accountable.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with professional interface with customers.
• Must possess a valid state driver's license and be able to travel up to 85% of the time.

Responsibilities

• Independently diagnose and troubleshoot networking, electrical, or mechanical issues with fitness equipment and consoles; conduct preventative maintenance.
• Build relationships with customers and sales partners; act as a trusted service advisor and complete service on-site.
• Manage daily workload and scheduling to optimize service delivery and metrics like first-time fix rate.
• Travel within assigned territory, primarily via company van, to service locations.
• Maintain inventory of spare parts, coordinate disposition of exchanged parts, and keep company vehicle in good order.
• Record service reports and expense reports accurately and timely.
• Attend installs and regional trade shows; adhere to Life Fitness Health & Safety procedures.
