Job summary

Redwood Materials is seeking a Field Service Technician to support the operation of our growing fleet of Energy Storage Systems (ESS) across remote field locations. You will travel extensively to ESS sites, performing hands-on electro-mechanical service work with minimal oversight and contributing to continuous improvement in a fast-paced environment.

Solar experience is a plus but secondary to core battery storage expertise.

Qualifications

Strong electro-mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills, especially for battery storage/ESS systems.
Solid background in electrical systems (high/low voltage), inverters, and BMS.
Ability to work independently in remote locations with a safety-first mindset.
Proficiency with diagnostic tools and field service documentation.

Responsibilities

Travel up to 75% to remote ESS installations for field repairs and troubleshooting.
Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and commissioning of battery storage systems.
Respond to service requests, complete work orders, and document activities.
Manage on-site field projects and coordinate with contractors/vendors.
Develop and refine standard work instructions for field tasks.
Identify safety hazards in high-voltage environments and mitigate risks.
Collaborate with operations, engineering, and EHS teams for improvements.
Operate diagnostic equipment safely and effectively.
Complete daily task lists and support scaling of ESS deployments.
