Job summary

Emerson is seeking a Field Service Engineer to be the local expert for a strategic customer in the Southeast Virginia and Eastern Shore region, supporting reliable operation of critical water infrastructure.

This role combines engineering, field service, and customer collaboration across engineering support, FAT, commissioning, startup, and long-term operational support, with remote work in the Southeast Virginia area and up to 75% travel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field.
• Minimum 3 years of engineering, field service, operations, or technical support experience in industrial sectors.
• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues in complex systems.
• Experience with DCS/SCADA projects or willingness to learn.
• Strong communication and customer-facing skills.
• Willing to relocate to or reside in Southeast Virginia/Hampton Roads area and travel up to 75%.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary technical resource and Emerson's representative for assigned customer locations.
• Build strong customer partnerships through consistent engagement, responsiveness, and technical expertise.
• Deliver training and technical guidance to customer personnel on system operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting best practices.
• Support the installation, modification, maintenance, commissioning, startup, and repair of control systems and related equipment.
• Provide technical consultation and recommendations to improve equipment performance, reliability, and operational efficiency.
• Investigate and resolve technical challenges using structured troubleshooting and root cause analysis methodologies.
• Develop, update, and improve maintenance procedures, quality processes, and operational practices.
• Support projects throughout the lifecycle, including engineering support, FAT, installation, commissioning, startup, testing, and ongoing customer support.
• Identify opportunities to enhance system performance, reliability, and effectiveness.
• Maintain accurate documentation of service activities, technical findings, and customer recommendations.
• Champion a culture of safety and ensure all work is performed to standards.
