Job summary

The State of Alaska seeks a Remote Maintenance Worker in Anchorage to provide training and technical assistance to rural utility operators, in both an office setting and in the field across remote villages.

The role requires initiative, the ability to work independently, and duties spanning plumbing, electronics, carpentry, and general building maintenance to keep water and sewer systems operating; occasional emergency response is expected.

Qualifications

• Valid Alaska Driver’s License required.
• Incumbent must obtain entry-level Water Treatment, Water Distribution, Wastewater Collection certifications (18 AAC 74).
• Willing to travel by small plane, 4-wheeler, snowmachine, and boat.
• Work in remote Alaska Village communities.
• Operate small handheld equipment such as Water/Sewer leak detection equipment, Elec. Tester, portable power tools.

Responsibilities

• Provide training and technical assistance to rural utility operators.
• Respond to emergencies to prevent catastrophic failures in village water/sewer facilities.
• Assess situations, formulate a plan, and complete the project or resolution.
• Work in both office and field settings, including remote villages.
