Job summary

UL Solutions is seeking an experienced Field Evaluation Engineer for a home-based role in Raleigh or Charlotte, NC. You will manage field evaluation projects with minimal supervision, developing UL requirements, test methods, and test equipment for complex products.

You will conduct documentation reviews, inspections, and prepare engineering reports to support regulatory approvals under adopted codes such as NEC. Eight years of related experience and an engineering degree are required.

Qualifications

Engineering/technology degree from an accredited university.
Expert knowledge of Building Codes, NEC, Field evaluations, conformity Standards and the NEC.
Demonstrated ability to apply project-handling concepts to complex, new, or modified products.
Experienced with Electrical Test Equipment and conducting electrical tests on products.
Working knowledge of industry issues, needs, and problems.

Responsibilities

Plan and conduct on-site engineering evaluations to support regulatory approvals.
Review documentation, perform visual and mechanical inspections, assess installation suitability per NEC and codes.
Develop UL requirements, test methods, and test equipment for complex products.
Prepare engineering reports detailing findings and conclusions for regulatory authorities.
