Job summary

UL Solutions is seeking a Fire Equipment Service Engineer to perform NFPA certification testing on apparatus and ladders, including aerial devices. The role involves extensive travel, field evaluations, and strict adherence to UL standards.

You will report results, interact with customers, and support continuous improvement in testing methods. Located in Central NJ area with remote work options; requires strong communication, mechanical/electrical aptitude, and ability to work in confined

Qualifications

• AAS in Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) required.
• ASNT Level II or higher certification required; certification must be maintained in good standing and current.
• Familiarity with large emergency vehicles or commercial vehicles with hydraulic equipment is a plus.
• CP 189 or SNT-TC-1A, VT, MT, UT certification is a plus.
• Strong mechanical/electrical aptitude and technical ability.
• Strong communication skills and ability to interface with clients.
• Ability to work in confined spaces and elevated areas.
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 70 lbs, both assisted and unassisted.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel; IBM Laptop/Lotus Notes.
• Position is remote and may require up to 50% overnight travel.

Responsibilities

• Performs NFPA certification testing on Fire Equipment Apparatus and Ground Ladders.
• Conducts field evaluations using NDT methods (magnetic particle, visual, ultrasound, penetrant).
• Analyses results against requirements and documents findings.
• Interprets test results and ensures compliance; may audit customer quality programs.
• Maintains logs, prepares reports, and communicates with customers and authorities.
