CAAPA seeks an Executive Director to serve as chief executive and cultural leader, advancing artistic excellence and sustainability. You will work with artists, educators, donors, and the Board to expand impact across music, education, and cultural programming.

This role requires substantial leadership experience in the performing arts, with a focus on governance, strategy, and community partnerships. It offers remote work with occasional on-site events in the Washington, DC area.

Qualifications

• Seven or more years of progressive leadership experience in performing arts, choral arts, music, cultural arts, arts administration, or closely related nonprofit organizations.
• Knowledge of performing arts programming, artist engagement, audience development, and cultural arts operations.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
• Demonstrated success leading organizations or major initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Lead strategic vision and annual operating plan and measure performance.
• Oversee fundraising strategy and cultivate major donors, foundations, and government funding.
• Develop and manage budgets, financial controls, and reporting to the Board.
• Provide staff leadership, project management, and organizational development.
